Relation between Elements

One of the basic premises of Gestalt theory is that the whole is more than just the sum of its components. The relation between elements makes up a large part of that remainder

The placement and relation between elements include

  • Isolation - reducing the number of elements in a scene
  • Placement - harmonious placement of object
  • Patterns - the repetition of elements
  • Balance - compositional harmony and equilibrium
  • Dominance - the largest, sharpest, brightest, etc. becomes dominant
